I love hats and wear them all year round, so when I travel, I always bring one with me. The hat I choose to take with me depends on the destination.
Medium Brim Hat
For fall or winter destinations, I always pack a hat. One of my favorites to travel with is the medium brim wool hat. It adds style to a plain outfit and looks great in photos. Sometimes I end up just wearing it on the flight instead of packing it in my suitcase.
Derived from a traditional Tyrolean brimmed hat, the fedora first became popular in Europe in the early 20th century, with its fame extending to the US in 1924 when a style worn by Prince Edward on a royal visit was copied and mass-produced by Sears Roebuck.
Although classic felt and wool designs can be worn year-round (even in summer), making them an excellent addition to any modern hat collection, it’s true that the fedora is perhaps not the most practical summer hat. Despite the wide brim, it’s large and hard to pack, and due to its formality very hard to style. It can work with a high-low street style look, though, and if you have to wear a suit to the office it can make you look like a boss.
Wide Brim Hat
I love hats with wide brims, but they can be a bit tricky to pack. High quality paper straw, lightweight and breathable, thick but soft for a luxurious customized feeling;Floppy and foldable large brim is good for keep you in shade and easy to pack up. If you fold it for too long time and make a little fold mark, you can spray a little water and use iron or hair dryer to stiffen it. A nice classic sun hat, can use for laying out in the sun, beach party, pool party, sailing, picnics, yard work, gardening, sun protection against harmful sun rays including premature wrinkles and sunburn; Also perfect for vacation, cruise attire and some fancy events as Kentucky Derby, Grand National, Melbourne Cup, weddings, church or religious gatherings. If I am traveling with a small carry-on suitcase, I usually take my medium brim hat. But when I am traveling with my larger suitcase I pack my wide brim hat.
The perfect accompaniment to a cotton or linen summer suit due to its breathable open weave, the Panama hat has long been associated with tropical leisure time. “Lightweight hats are always great for days at the beach, music festivals or holidays. The Panama hat works well on warm summer nights as it won’t look ridiculous once the sun goes down,” explains Walker. In summer, you just enjoy the sunshine on the beach, it is doesn’t matter you have enough time to play on the beach, you just wear a hat,the city you lived will full of the atmosphere of holiday.
