Rhône-Alpes is one of the régions of France. The région was named after the Rhône River and the Alps mountain range and
is the biggest region of France in size and second biggest in population, the Rhône-Alpes region is a place very attractive for the traveller which covers an area of
43,698 km² and contains the departments
Ain, Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Loire, Rhône, Savoie and
Haute-Savoie.
Notable cities are: Lyon , the second biggest French city, Grenoble, big academic centre where the Winter Olympic Games of 1968 took place. Annecy, lovely town with a beautiful lake Chambéry, once the capital of the Dukedom of Savoie
Privas,
Saint-Etienne, Valence and of course
Mont-Blanc.
