Île-de-France is one of the régions of France. Its territory corresponds roughly to the metropolitan area of Paris and covers an area of
12,011 km² and contains the departments
Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine,
Paris,
Seine-Saint-Denis,
Seine-et-Marne,
Val-de-Marne, Val-d'Oise and Yvelines. It is the most populated région of France, having more inhabitants than Belgium or Sweden, and about as many inhabitants as Ohio.
